About This Event

One Night. Three Sounds. AC Scar, Beau Monde and Kai Crowe-Getty are taking over Limbo at The Refinery.AC Scar: A local Charleston bluegrass/honky tonk artist breathing new life into classic country music. Often playing under the name Reverse Cowgirl, AC Scar is Andrew Scardinos original music, which has a modern touch on a classic sound. His latest album Nuevo Vaquero was recorded in Charleston and is now streaming everywhere. In addition to play multiple gigs a night, you can catch this Highwater Honky at Charlestons Riverfront Revival this year. Beau Monde: From Baltimore to Charleston, Nashville, and back again, Chris Wilcoxs songwriting journey is a reflection of the familiar road that still leads to unlikely places. His latest project, aptly titled Beau Monde, translates directly to A Beautiful World. This sentiment is deeply felt across a batch of songs created with a new lease on life that comes from shedding the expectations of the Nashville machine in favor of a simpler and more joyful approach to crafting music. Bringing in a collection of friends and accomplished musicians and producers from Charleston, SC, Chris takes solace in a new low country home, newfound fatherhood, and arriving on the brighter side of health challenges. In this light, Beau Monde is a family affair. Noted Southeastern producers Wolfgang Zimmerman (Band of Horses, Susto, Futurebirds) and Matt Zutell (Doom Flamingo, Big Something, Winyah) take on rare co-production roles to bring the project to life with members of their respective studio bands in tow: Ross Bogan (Wolfmask), Christian Chidester (Brave Baby), and Aaron Utterback (Human Resources). Like the low country he once again calls home, Chris acts as a vessel for the natural beauty the area has to offer. These are songs for warm summer nights, as the sun sets over the sweetgrass lined rivers that snake through the landscape. Kai Crowe-Getty: Growing up and making a life in Nelson County, Virginia, Kai has carved out a career writing about the people and landscapes around him. His first show was in middle school and there were polyester shirts, strobe lights, and dancing. Hes been playing music since. When not fronting the rock act Lord Nelson, Kai has supported artists such as BJ Barham (American Aquarium), Joe Pug, Lilly Hiatt, Chuck Ragan, Andrew Combs, Erin Rea and many more. Pushing into the waters of a solo record and career has slowed like much of this past year, but with a full album in the can, more songs on the way, and light creeping around the edges, the luxury of music and hope is hard to ignore.
