Alexey Marti & Afrogumbo Havana, Cuba-born percussionist Alexey Marti has been making New Orleans his home since 2008 and tearing up stages all over town. With two albums to his name, Travesia and Mundo, Alexey brings together timba, jazz, funk, Afro-Cuban folklore, salsa, son, rumba, and New Orleans rhythms in his original compositions. As a member of the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO) and bandleader of his own collectives, Alexey incorporates elements of modern New Orleans percussion into his flavorful Cuban conga and rumba music and the result is a dance-worthy, high-energy show.
