An American Werewolf in London (1981)

John Landis's werewolf film owes much of its staying power to Rick Baker's transformation effects, built practically and still uncomfortable to watch decades later. Beneath the effects is a simpler story: two American backpackers attacked on the English moors, one killed outright, the other left carrying something in his blood.
