Inspired by the sounds of international brass bands and Jazz ensembles, Funk and Reggae horn sections, West African and Latin American drumming, their sound is truly their own.The rhythm section interweaves grooves and swaps roles throughout the performance for a visual and audible experience. Drum set, Cajon, Timbales, Congas, Surdo (Brazilian Bass Drum) and a variety of mixed percussion make up the intricate drum beats youll hear. The lower brass section takes on the bass role, rhythmic comping, inner harmonies and supporting melodies. Riding the musical wave on top is the trumpet, playing the main melody and voice of the band. With Bang Bang, youll hear melodic and fiery solos from every member of the band, soft and intimate 3-part horn section compositions, exciting rhythm breaks and catchy melodies and horn riffs that will keep you on your feet and your ears open all night.BRIGHTON BEATAll the way from New York City, their first time in Portland, OR - The Brighton Beat is a unique and engaging spectacle for all ages. A huge band playing epic horn funk with a full horn section, epic percussion, and non-stop foot stomping grooves. With influences ranging from classic New Orleans brass band Funk to Classic 70s Afrobeat this is a dance party not to miss!. Performing up and down the East coast since 2010, the band has developed a style of performance that uniquely engages the audience and is fun for the whole family. Positive, uplifting, danceable music is a trademark of The Brighton Beat sound. Instrumental songs that feature room for the horn section to improvise anchor the bands set, but the show often includes guest vocalists, audience participation, group sing-a-longs and even the occasional circus act. Welcome to your new favorite band/family.
