Rooted in the legacy of June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved Black Americans in the Confederacy learned of their freedom, Juneteenth honors a history that continues to shape our present. More than 150 years later, the influence of Black culture, creativity, and innovation remains powerful, evolving, and ever-present in our community and around the world.
