He is the long time musical director of Chicago phenomenon Tributosaurus, and is a current member of several bands including The Meadowlark Lemons, The Zimmermen, The Freddy Jones Band, Courtesy Patrol, The Bono Brothers, and The Loaded Dice, and has performed live with numerous artists, including Jim Peteriks World Stage, Deion Peyton and the 43rd Street Blues Band, Bobby Keys, Don Stiernberg, Van Ghost, Poi Dog Pondering, Cathy Richardson, Suzanne Palmer, Robbie Fulks, and many more. He also regularly works as a studio player and has appeared on numerous albums.Mr. Dowd hosts a monthly residency in FITZGERALDS SIDEBAR. MORE ON THE DOWD:Gerald Dowd has been described as the hardest working drummer in Chicago (Richard Milne, WXRT), playing on over 100 albums, and averaging 150 live dates a year around the world. In recent years, hes been releasing solo albums of original material, starting with his 2012 release, Kingsize EP. In 2014, he was the recipient of an IAP arts grant from Chicagos Dept. Of Cultural Affairs/Special Events (DCASE), which led to his first full-length solo album, Home Now, produced by Grammy-nominated producer Liam Davis, and featuring, among others, Chicago legends Robbie Fulks and Nora OConnor.
